Sandstone country around the lower Mountains
Florabella Pass is a recognised walking-track connection associated with Blaxland and Warrimoo in the NSW heritage listing for Blue Mountains walking tracks. The surrounding lower-Mountains setting includes bushland slopes, rocky ground and sheltered creek gullies. These features sit alongside established residential blocks.
On sloping land, a property's front garden can look very different from its rear boundary. Retaining walls, terraces and under-house spaces can link concealed areas across several levels. A catcher needs to know that layout; a snake seen at the back fence may not be accessible from the street without going around the house.

Rock walls and garden terraces
Gaps between stones can obscure an animal. Tell us the exact entry point and avoid lifting rocks or putting tools into cavities.
Subfloor and lower-level storage
A snake may disappear from sight where a garden meets a building. Describe the access opening rather than entering or closing it off yourself.

Do not dismantle the wall or pour anything into the gaps. Apart from the snake's unpredictable movement, moving structural stones can create another hazard. Watch only from a clear, safe position and identify the opening using a fixed feature.
Explain whether the wall supports a terrace, borders a path or connects to the house. If your dog was close to the snake, separate the dog safely and contact a vet immediately if contact or a bite is suspected. Removing the snake and treating an animal are separate urgent tasks.

- Plan repairs to retaining structures with the appropriate trade after the immediate sighting has been resolved.
